For a few months while my current system was down, I was forced to use the eMac. After a time exploring how it worked and making it as much like Linux as I could, it got old. I really don’t much care for the Zen of Mac. So I installed SUSE, but that wasn’t too good. Then I tried Debian Etch for the PPC hardware, and it ran just dandy. There were some shortcomings, but it was Linux and it was faster than Leopard.
Now that I have my main system back and running Debian Lenny, I have no need for a second Linux machine nobody else will touch. Today I broke out the disks and restored Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.5). I’m still getting it set up to suit me, but it will serve well as a guest system. Then there will be no excuse for everyone jumping on my wife’s XP system. I’ll have her turn on the screensaver password and that will end the nonsense of her not having a chance to use her own computer.
I still don’t like Mac, but it is tolerable until I can trade it for something I like better.
