Finally, CentOS 5.3 has been released. I’m getting a DVD ISO myself.
Much as I love Debian Etch, there are some things broken which won’t be fixed anytime soon. Further, Etch will die in less than a year, whereas CentOS 5.x will be supported for several years to come. It’s possible it will fail me on this laptop, but I’m going to give it a shot.
Some of the things they have fixed is adding drivers for my wireless cards, and upgrading and fixing the power management utilities. I should be able to get suspend and hibernate working as easily as I did on Debian.
I’m installing it tomorrow.
