Don’t Trust Any Human with More Power than You

The title is a corollary to one of my three pillars of Christian Mysticism: Disentanglement. You can’t escape the effects of other humans on your existence, and you can’t escape the necessity of letting some folks do whatever they will, whether you sense they care or not. But you need not ever allow your sense of peace to rely on anyone, least of all your own self.

To say governments lie is simply a truism. There is no such thing as honest government on this earth, though not because it’s impossible. They can’t be bothered. Yes, it’s a matter of evil hearts and human sin. Nowhere is that dishonesty more evident than in situations where it matters most. The precious few government figures who try to remain somewhat honest are so rare as to be remarkable. Honest people are quickly booted from the halls of power, because they are a threat to all sorts of personal privilege, venal and hedonistic pleasures at the people’s expense, and so forth. You already know this, but I need to put things in context.

I have spent some time perusing Wikileaks. I even commented on some released document I knew about. Julian Assange does not inspire my confidence, but I’m sure he can be useful. The problem is I’m not too sure he isn’t being used, wittingly or not, by those he claims to expose. Just about anyone who gets much attention has something to lose by not keeping that attention, so they become vulnerable to manipulations regarding whatever it is gives them leverage for it. I have no trouble suspecting some stories, even published by the likes of Al-Jazeera, are planted, are nothing more than disinformation — a lie — from some government agency somewhere. Assange seeks to distance himself from the MSM, which no one should trust for anything at all. Okay, the MSM serve to indicate where TPTB want your attention, so you know what to ignore. But I’m hardly the only honest voice who doesn’t really trust Wikileaks.

Try Cryptome. You don’t have to agree with the progressive editorial slant to recognize the guy who runs it has nothing to sell, nothing to gain either way if you read his stuff or don’t. While there are plenty of so-called conservative writers who might make the same claim, I find they tend to be less well-informed, and tend too often to include factors in their evaluations which are entirely too trusting of liars. So while I don’t care for liberalism, conservatives are more reliably wrong, and I end up wading through a lot of communist baloney trying to find honest reports. Yes, I find libertarians often as tiresome as conservatives, only because they are more doctrinaire and impractical, even for a mystic like me. They are Aristotelian, and I find that hostile to faith.

So when the Pentagon announces they are seeking Julian Assange, I can’t be sure this isn’t another piece of theater, at least on somebody’s part. But let’s assume for a moment Wikileaks is preparing to expose a batch of secret messages taken from US traffic. I’m fine with that. I’ve been the victim of enough lies from my government, I no longer consider myself part of whatever it is they claim to be. Stuff all your rhetoric about patriotism; I am faithful to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom alone, and I most assuredly find any measure of loyalty to the US government is a blasphemous filthy attack that faith. Indeed, I will assert without any room for debate, the US government is a foreign occupying force, and the sooner it falls by God’s hand, the better off the citizens will be.

Bring it on, Lord! Let Your hand of wrath be revealed against our sins; they are so very many.

I can’t pretend to know how this is all going to come apart, only that the Bible makes painfully clear the US is doomed. It won’t matter whether it is possible for America to repent; she won’t. It’s just a matter of time. Along the way, some pretty nasty things will be done in the vain hope of keeping that power and privilege in the hands of the governing class. Just on the confluence of events alone, I would not be surprised if something uglier than 9-11 comes about somewhere in the US right on or near July 4th. And it will be utterly false-flag, just as 9-11 was. At the same time, I doubt it will all come apart at once. Indeed, some false front of government cohesion might continue long after any real power is gone. The American Empire will die slowly, with long loud and dramatic wailing, a corpse twitching long after life is extinguished.

And all the human misery resulting from it can be laid at the feet of those who let it happen, those today who chose not to know, not to see, not to act. Only the children are innocent.
