Fun Flight

Because of the Fall, we do not enjoy life. We bring joy to this life as an assault so we may dominate it.
If it’s not fun, determine in your heart to have fun while doing it. We are wise as serpents and harmless as doves, and this world is one big joke. Taking things here too seriously is simply evil. Thus, a light heart is our resistance to the sins of this existence. It’s not in conflict with sobriety, since the antonym of sobriety is various forms of escape which don’t really take you anywhere. Our light-hearted joy in this Vale of Sorrow is a genuine escape into the Realms of Light. It’s bringing truth to the vast lie.
My pacifism is conditional. Being peaceful is a reflex, a strongly considered and thoroughly reckoned choice to face things with equanimity for the sake of God’s glory. Violence is not out of the question, because God’s Laws demand some measures of it, but within the context of utter necessity for the sake of life itself. Western Civilization gets this all wrong. God told Noah the sword belongs in the hands of the tribal elder, and the State was nowhere in sight, excluded from the calculus entirely. The State is a perversion of God’s Laws. The act of execution must of necessity be an act of mercy and love for all involved, and cannot be objectified. Taking the life of someone who threatens God’s demanded social order is meant to be painful. It is entirely personal in nature; otherwise it cannot be called “justice” before the Lord. My pacifism is aimed at protesting the secular state altogether, and elevating in the eyes of all the symbol of God’s sacrificial love. The State is always wrong, simply because it is the State.
Resistance to this evil need not take the most obvious “common sense” path. Resisting sin means refusing to dirty your hands with it. We do this in a public fashion, not for show, but for demonstration. We reveal God’s truth by not wallowing in untruth. We aim to live a life on eternal values, something this world can seldom even comprehend. We don’t take that path because we expect them to understand, but because we know God uses that moment of shock and discontinuity in some mysterious and miraculous fashion to shake the souls of others. Meanwhile, we fully expect the majority to always misunderstand. They are not our audience, not our real concern. Sure, we’ll be glad to offer such explanation as our talents allow, but we don’t expect much. Jesus warned us not to expect much.
So what we do seldom makes sense to the minions of the State. They’ll always misunderstand, and too often, do so on purpose. We consider our responses based on the assumption they will do their best to get it wrong. Sooner or later, they’ll come after us in one way or another. It’s fundamental to this fallen world order.
Folks, there are times when a violent response is good, right and just, regardless of what man’s laws say. Sometimes your calling and mission require you weep in sorrow at the necessity of bashing someone’s head in to prevent them doing something even worse, to keep your hands from sin. More often, though, we would simply flee. It’s not because we necessarily expect to win the fight, nor escape the hands of evil restraining our joy. It’s a game. It’s a way of injecting a bright light of glory into the context. It’s okay to piss them off by your mocking and light-hearted resistance. Not for the sake of resistance, but because it speaks the truth. Whatever it is most folks regard as “serious business” in this world is anything but, when measured against eternal values of Heaven. God said He does not want man’s version of social stability, so unless the State somehow manages to promote what God says it should look like, you aren’t required to go along with it all the time. Your spirit, filled with God’s Spirit, will point out opportunities to disrupt for His glory.
