Update: It’s the house, folks. Apparently it’s mold and it’s getting critical. When things freeze, I’m sure I’ll be okay for the most part. I’m going to check into dust masks, etc. And I could feel your prayers today.
Original post follows…
Aside from the ongoing vehicle hunt, I’m facing a personal health issue.
Keep in mind that I am not in full control of all the circumstances in which I live. I’m stuck with a trailer house I can’t afford to sell because the payments are lower than rent on just a patch of plain dirt. Yet, it may be that the house has something in it that’s causing the problem, but there is no simple human solutions right now. That’s why I need your prayers.
For most of my life I’ve suffered from rhinitis and related allergy issues. Living in Southeast Texas for a few years nearly killed me due to the high mold and pollen presence. I was sick often and pretty badly. Here in Oklahoma it was at least seasonal. I’ve found a way to survive the seasonal stuff until it went away on its own. It never lasted that long.
Until now. Nine days so far, though with a bit of ebb and flow. Here are some things I’ve done: I’ve typically flushed my sinuses with saline at least monthly, and more like 2-3 times daily in this bout. I’ve run a heavy-duty vibrator across my head and face, which breaks up nascent impactions. If I have the strength to work out, that always clears things up for a while. Sometimes I’m zapped, and like it or not, I am reduced to taking benadryl just so I can sleep. Without it, sleep is fleeting at best. I refuse to use cough syrups, despite the near constant phlegm in my airway and coughing. I also won’t take Phenylephidrine or Sudafed; they are pointless in my case and frankly harmful. Most of the herbal remedies I could get are commercial and suspect.
Our area has been heavily polluted with various kinds of defoliants due to utilities work, so we have almost no natural herbs. We are in the looping flight path over Tinker AFB — it’s constant and you can smell the jet fuel and soot some days. This is a major maintenance depot. I believe our house may have a large wet spot in the insulation on the bottom side, probably there for years. No, I can’t afford to fix it.
Right now, I strongly suspect the combination of factors is worst when I’m home. Tomorrow I’ll start planning on spending my days at the library (free wifi for my laptop) and out of the flight path. I’ll be close to the gym and I can tote my lunch and drinks easily on my bicycle. If that turns out to help very much, I’ll need to pray about moving, and that would take a miracle.
You probably know I’m hardly afraid of dying, but I’m pretty sure this is not my time.
Are these the sort of allergies where the symptoms die down after the first freeze? Because I think we’re in for one soon here, maybe there, too.
Maybe you can find something in the library about whether acupressure might help. Do you use colloidal silver? It’s easy to make if you can get the .999 silver wire. Not sure it would help allergies, but it’s great if you don’t use doctors like we don’t and you want to fend off what’s going around.
I’ve used colloidal silver in the past. While it helped with one problem, it had no effects on my allergies. It would be hard to write a full “medical history” of this thing, since it goes back to my birth. It runs in the family, and my son suffers much worse than I for his complete lack on interest in nature’s ways. We’ve had our first freeze, just barely. We’ll have a major one next week, so I guess I’ll see about that. What makes this worth posting is that it has gone on for so very long.
