You can’t teach a society; you can teach yourself.
I suppose it’s one of the biggest jobs we face in our ministry here at Kiln of the Soul: We strive to help people understand that the prevailing social mythology is wrong. Western Civilization will fight harder and more viciously in these final death throes than at any other time, striving to keep all the captive souls enthralled. I wish I could make it easier for you, but even if I had your full attention face to face, you would struggle. I have to trust God that you and He can work it out on His timetable.
God is coming to visit — that’s the biblical language for it. Other applicable phrases include: His wrath is falling, this is a time of tribulation, the earth will be shaken, stars in the sky will fall, etc. The literal meaning inherent in the wording is not important. The idea is to awaken a moral awareness that this is a rich opportunity for those who are able to sense it. But such truth by its nature cannot easily fit into words, so we have to rely on God to touch hearts and enlighten folks whom He intends to use for His work. In general terms, a visit from God is a time of judgment, not merely for punishment, but for correcting and provoking people to open up their hearts to His merciful divine justice. So a visitation from God is both wrath and blessing at the same time, and your human logic cannot readily unravel the tightly woven fabric of moral truth for rational analysis.
To help you, God speaks in ways your mind cannot possibly comprehend. It’s a chance for you to become aware that this stuff really is outside reason. Faith makes quite unreasonable demands, so get used to it. Part of this visitation of God is a whole range of experiences that you cannot explain on the human level.
You’ll experience stuff that makes people snicker at you when you try to describe it. Or perhaps they’ll try to push into that woo-woo land of superstition. Dreams, visions, unexplainable phenomena — no, you aren’t going crazy. This is your chance to become sane, because the reality God created includes those things. Maybe you lack the social skills to defend yourself from attempts to force you back into conformity with the mythology, but I tell you in all seriousness that if God is going to work in your life, it must include such things in times like this. How you process those things is really between you and God, but we do offer a chance here for you to talk about it. We will take you seriously. That doesn’t mean we can offer simple explanations, but we have spent some time with these things and are more comfortable than the general run of Western society when faced with inexplicable stuff like that.
The biggest danger is that you will allow someone to steer your life, even through these ineffable experiences, trying to take advantage of your for personal gain. That’s not us. This is not a cult about getting you to join our little imaginary world in exchange for the big wide imaginary world. Our pitch, if you will, is helping you see the chains and bars and walls, and then the doorways to escape. We won’t attempt to tell you what you should find on the other side, but we will help you build your own senses for such things by describing what we believe we have found.
Then maybe you can find that inner structure that God planted there when He made you, so that you can figure out for yourself what He demands of you. We’ll offer as much help as we can, but we refuse to give you the answers. It’s confusing, in part because our world has made you believe it’s all just emotion. So harshly has that lie been pressed that, in some ways, it becomes partially true. Some of what you may think it means will be obscured by deceptive emotions, so it takes awhile to detangle it all. You’ll get there; we believe in you.
But the bottom line is you have to find your own way and teach yourself.
