The Lord awakened me in the wee hours of this morning and I discovered that my friend had responded positively. We will have our parish under the old soulkiln.org domain name (closed as of 2020), to include our parish email service. I’ve sent him $50 to get started on rebuilding things. While he hasn’t set an exact amount, I expect we’ll double that for a year’s service. At one time I got the service for free because I was writing for his online magazine, but that’s been moribund for more than a year. He needs the money now, so we’ll pay whatever he asks.
On the email accounts: The idea is to make a more private communication possible. If you aren’t worried about that much, then there’s no reason for you to get one. However, I do want outgoing parish business “branded” with that domain name. The service will be encrypted and I’ll come up with an encrypted webform for those who don’t want or need an extra email address, but I believe I can have up to 25 accounts on that domain. You can use it with your favorite mail client just like any other service.
No, I have no idea how God plans to use this, but I’m convinced this is the best path to take at this point.
