On my walk today I headed south along Maple and cut west along the out-of-service tracks that divides the housing from our local VoTech, and a couple of businesses farther down. Turning right on Air Depot, since there’s no sidewalk on the eastern side, I tramped through parking lots and grass that fronts various commercial buildings. Near Jarman Drive is a trio of restaurants, but two are vacant now. Behind one of them — once a Long John Silver fish place, then something else that failed — was a low spot that has collected topsoil carried by rain run-off. In it grows this marvelous carpet of purple flowers. They look rather like something similar to Rose Moss.
