After the steroid injection in my knee, I’ve been able to ride more. I’ve missed it, and I’ve missed taking pictures. Here we have some white herons frolicking in the busy flow below the lower dam on the Oklahoma River Recreation Area. This was just after some pretty heavy rains.
On a different ride the other day, I ran across the fresh crop of wildflowers for this year. These are the ones that take root and come back annually. Later this summer they will all be mowed down, but right now they are quite eye catching.
This is more of the same flowers. I took quite a detour just getting started off near Bricktown, and none of it was marked. OKC Parks and Rec can be pretty negligent about this kind of thing from time to time. You’ll get more timely and accurate information from some of the riding clubs around OKC.
But with the recovered use of my left knee, I have plans to get out on the road next week and see the Black Kettle National Grasslands. If possible, I’ll try to work in the Antelope Hills, as well.
I am so grateful you can get out more with greater ease. Those wildflowers are so very lovely. As I am looking at the bird photos, I wonder if they aren’t one of the many varieties of egrets y’all have in your area. Especially with the beak and leg color and head plumage. Just sayin. 😊
Egrets or white herons — same bird with different names. The locals prefer the latter.
