Read the Scriptures from a Hebrew perspective. Learn how God operates with His people. But there is one thing you must understand: The context has changed since the end of the Covenant of Moses. There is no longer a covenant nation on this earth. Even if there were, it would not have claim to any part of the peculiarities that God granted on Mount Sinai. That covenant died on the Cross; it’s gone forever. The only possible law covenant any human government can embrace is Noah. End of discussion.
In other words, everything you read in the OT about God doing this or planning that for the Nation of Israel or any other nation/empire that impinged on Israel — that’s gone. God does not work with any nation that way any more. He is not directly involved in blessing or punishing any human government; they are all under Satan.
When you read in the OT themes of retribution, they don’t apply literally to any human situation. They are symbolic. They do not have a literal fulfillment in our day. You need to understand that the lack of covenant blessings is all the retribution you should expect. Again, all nations are under Satan and his allies.
With Satan at the helm of every human government, your expectations must be shaped by what Scripture reveals about his ways. He hates humans. He wants all of us destroyed, removed from Creation entirely. There’s nothing he can do about the Elect and their eternal destiny. He already owns the majority of humanity; his primary concern is keeping the Elect from their covenant promises. That’s all he can do; it’s the only reason he still exists. This is somehow related to the crux of Satan’s rebellion.
Satan’s whole game is deceiving the Elect regarding their privileges. The Damned have no options; they are used by Satan as the primary means of keeping the Elect fooled. People with no eternal purpose have only this world and its concerns. It consumes their entire existence. They are filled with hubris about what they can accomplish by their talents, etc. They cannot imagine that this world is a lie of Satan.
The only thing any human can do in this life to touch Eternity is to embrace the revealed agenda of God through His Son. Everything else humans do means nothing; it is all vanity of vanities. The whole point for the Elect is not so much what they do but how. We cannot simply disengage from this world because we are here for God’s purpose. But we should by no means allow ourselves to get wrapped up in the worldly concerns of the Damned. We are each called to engage the world by clinging to eternal concerns.
Part of that is keeping a full awareness of the vanity of human concerns. Every government will eventually break and collapse. Every economic system, every civilization, everything humans care about in this world — it’s all ephemeral. Satan feeds humans lies, convincing them they can accomplish great things. It’s all a bait and switch. They will try, but it will always come to nothing. In the long run, everything humans build to answer the problems they see will fail. It will fail in part because they do not see the true needs of humanity. They are chasing their own tails.
If God reveals to you that it’s all vanity, then you become cynical enough about human nature to find the freedom inherent in divine revelation. You begin to pull back from ambition and start operating from simple obedience to Christ. His revelation points out the futility of worldly concerns, and says that it’s most important that you simply plan to operate by His love and compassion. You realize that your own hope is to become a vehicle of His character and His power.
Even as America does great evil and seems to prosper from it, you know that it’s all vanity. It’s punishment enough that Americans care about what they can do, because it’s painfully obvious they are not directed by the Holy Spirit. They don’t even understand the concept of how God works. They are blind and locked into futility. That’s the real tragedy of human existence. They don’t realize that all the best they can do is nothing.
Are you beginning to understand the concept of “damnation”? It’s living without the Presence, the fellowship and love, the sense of peace and purpose, that only He can give. What a sad life without Him!

Speaking of Noah, I thought this was interesting:

Hmmm, a highly leveraged version of the Noachide Laws found in the Talmud. Not sure what’s behind it, but I would hardly be surprised by something like this that would appeal to lefties.
