Watching Politics

Genuinely good people have no interest in ruling the lives of others. All political candidates bear some flavor of moral evil. As I’ve pointed out all too often, our current system of government, and our entire civilization as a whole, flagrantly violates God’s revelation in so many ways we could hardly keep track of it. What’s left is for us to stand watching from the sidelines and chatting amongst ourselves about what we see.

This is no mere idle entertainment, because we shall have to live with this crap hanging over our lives. Thus, our conversation is about what our hearts tell us of how this stuff plays out against the moral fabric of the universe.

Aside from The Cult ruling our lives, we still have to understand their tools. It is not a matter of some iron control over the system, but more of an artful manipulation of certain factors within the system. The Cult will use whatever leverage is necessary to ensure they get what they want. I feel certain things have not reached the point where they can actively take full control, so the game is still manipulation toward increasing chaos and misery. In other words, it ain’t bad enough to pull the lever, yet. So what we have is a series of bait-n-switch operations that sing of hope, and then scream of even worse suffering afterward.

Yes, there are surprises even for The Cult. Despite their self-assurance as the true gods of this world, Our Creator remains firmly in charge of human destiny. Our job is to pray about what we see and wait for His hand, as well as His revelation in our hearts of things we can and should do.

If you are watching the games played out in our current national election process, you realize that the two parties are following the same playbook. We can characterize the major efforts as revenge for egregious insult. The Democrats have been captured by the spiteful Amazonian warriors out to make sure men suffer. For whatever reason, they have decided Hillary Clinton is the right person for their figurehead. Let’s pretend she actually manages to steal the election: There is no way this will go very far without collapsing in a bloody rebellion — literally. She is utterly lacking in the kind of savvy to accomplish any goals without infuriating everyone affected by her policies. She won’t just push stuff through, but she’ll make it as nasty and spiteful as possible. It’s all about the humiliation.

Meanwhile, the Republicans are using similar internal controls, but so far it’s not working out too well. This Trump guy is too powerful with the voters, answering the call to some collective outrage. If they can’t tame him and put him a leash, they’ll have to find some way to crush him. But nobody else comes close to capturing the loyalties, so what’s left are various attempts at spoiling Trump’s campaign. None of the other Republican contenders is viable against Trump. The leaderships lacks the intelligence and finesse to use his popularity. It seems the current party leadership would rather deal with Clinton than Trump. Really, the Republican party leaders are that goddamn stupid.

So we now see that both party leadership are running the most reckless possible course. Anyone can see that it won’t matter who wins, because it will only lead to chaos. I wasn’t kidding when I suggest previously that Trump would easily win the election but find himself at war with everyone in the system. He would literally have to kill a lot of folks to get anything done, and they might well have him killed before it got very far in the first place. The system is not simply hostile to genuine human need, but hostile to political reality itself. The system is self-destructing before our eyes.

Update: Lest you think there is any hope of redemption in Washington DC, let me offer this small sample of how the system operates:

Doctors Without Borders today reported they were informed that the US smashed into the wreckage of the hospital with a tank, forcing their way in and destroying potential evidence that would be used in a war crimes investigation.

US officials claimed that the tank was “carrying investigators” from the official military inquiry into the matter, though they likely could’ve gotten into the hospital, closed after the attack, without using a tank if they’d simply asked Doctors Without Borders to let them in.
