Perhaps you understand this instinctively on some level: Christ inherited the prerogatives of His Father. Granted, our language can’t carry the full meaning of it, but so far as we here can grasp and experience, Christ is the Heir of Creation.
So if He showed up today in His fully glorified form, all the brokenness of the Fall would disintegrate, and whatever was left would be what He had planned for us in the first place. That’s not much different, in effect, with what Paul and others teach us about the Second Coming. Inherent in His Presence, the fire of God’s wrath would destoy all sin, and only what He made can remain.
And if you happen to be helping colonize some planet in another star system, you’ll still experience pretty much what everyone on earth does. That’s because it’s not confined to earth alone, but all the universe. The entire cosmos is contained within the bubble of the Fall, confined under the prison guard we refer to as “time.” Because we are under time’s mastery, it’s not possible to conceive of any condition without time. Hebrew language wasn’t much better at stating it, either — God is not subject to our experience of time’s mastery.
We are told Christ dying on the Cross is a fair symbolism of what it feels like for God to tolerate this bubble of fallen falsehood, this envelope of sin and death stabbing into His Being as some ultimate insult. Those who claim to have His Spirit in them, we would expect them to have an increasing, growing discomfort with what He calls “sin.” Yes, our human nature is part of that sin nature, and so we are torn internally by the conflict, but the normative experience of those who are granted spiritual birth is an increasing alienation to this fallen realm.
To people who haven’t tasted that breath of Heaven, writing stuff like this is the muttering of a madman. By paradox, those who have surrendered to that Spirit of God, they don’t even have to have memorized the Bible much; they’ll recognize all this blather as a reflection of what the Scripture says.
All those years growing up while attending churches of one stripe or another, it was drilled into my head I really must memorize as much of the Bible as possible. Lord knows, I really tried. But with a recall disability (Adult ADD), this is a monumental and frustrating task. Yet, once I became aware of the Spirit Realm as separate from something so feeble as my intellect, I report faithfully, I know the Bible on a totally different level than mere memory of the words in some English translation. So while I could go back and look up all the chapter-verse addresses for things I write, I realize it isn’t necessary for those who walk in the spirit as I do. Their spirits will know and faithfully report whether my words reflect the divine revelation.
Not in some absolute sense, because that’s a myth of the fallen mind. It’s not as if I suggest you aren’t spiritual if you don’t recognize the Bible in my writing. The point is God is working through it for His own purposes, and if there is any truth to my supposition I am a prophet, I don’t need to aim at the intellect, but at the Spirit of God living in your spirit. So convincing you I’m telling the truth is not my job, and I couldn’t do it if it was. You have to taste eternity in my words yourself, or I’m just wasting time and electrons.
If time is our prison warden, I’m quite willing to see him wasted.
