Tying up some loose ends that don’t justify a whole post…
Current subscriptions to this blog are well past 400 now. It’s nice to think my audience might be that large, but I’d be surprised if even a quarter of that actually pays attention. I don’t take myself that seriously, so it’s not a complaint. A few people actually care and that’s more than I’ll ever deserve. A few of the subscribers appear to be folks with very different religious ideas, some representing religions notorious for being pushy and difficult. I’ve had to cut off a tiny handful trying to forcibly convert me to their ideas, banning them from posting comments. The rules here are essentially live and let live. If I offend you, it’s okay to say so, but I refuse to debate the relative merits of this or that approach to things. I have a mission and calling from God; you can participate or not. Unlike cult leaders, I have zero interest in control over others. God bless you all on terms you work out with Him.
I’m officiating at a wedding at the end of this month. The couple chose me because I am so totally generic and non-sectarian. The event will be part of our local Oktoberfest, and the bride is a major sponsor of the event. It will be a themed costume affair, with the wedding party in Medieval attire and I in an all-white bishop’s costume. I’ll try to post a picture for your amusement.
Better laugh while you can. I’m hardly the only one who sees dark days ahead. It’s pretty obvious to anyone who can back off and see the trends with some dispassion. I’ve warned those who adhere to Progressive-Left causes to beware that when things reach a certain tipping point, the righties will rise up with their arms and attempt to pull society back to the middle-class orderly way of life they imagine we once had. Among them will be the Underground Patriots all too willing to sacrifice a few lefties to the cause. Along comes Fred Reed saying about the same thing. Keep in mind that Mr. Reed is going blind and his articles feature typos he’d never make if he could see. His grammar is superb. He and I came to the same conclusion independently, as have many others.
I’m further convinced this is what some folks are hoping will happen. Seems to me you’d have to be blind to not see how TPTB are driving us to this kind of conflict. They’ve done it before and it has always been profitable, so they’ll do it again. That’s part of what my recently serialized book is trying to show: We dare not let ourselves be herded into thinking this stuff really matters. We are involved and it will hurt, but we don’t have to let it own us. Play whatever part you believe God has given you, but never fall for the lie that God cares one way or another about political agendas. Again: This world is fallen and cannot be redeemed in it’s current state. It’s real enough in one sense, but it’s just a prison of shadows for those who belong to Heaven. We don’t deny the reality of pain, suffering and sorrow, but that we can walk through it because it cannot own us. So some of us will get hurt and some will die from it, but none of that has any bearing on our calling and mission. We do what’s right because it’s right, not because it’s effective. Moral justice is its own reward.
