For a Christian Mystic, ritual is never more than mere symbolism. Sometimes it helps keep the doors of our souls open to offer a fresh restatement of divine intent. This is what I propose to offer as the final words for the wedding at the end of this month:
Your humble clergyman will by no means presume upon divine authority. Far greater men than I spoke for Him long before I came into this world; I can only report what they have recorded. According to their testimony, God has said that it is for mankind to make laws and ceremonies. However, from the birth of humanity itself, marriage has always drawn His personal interest. Therefore, we must presume a covenant of matrimony stands recorded in Heaven. Let no one presume to defy God’s declaration. I now pronounce you husband and wife.

I LOVE that Ed! What a wonderful statement of Father’s intent for marriage.
