Today in the US is a major election day. On the one hand, the fiction of competing political views is widely known. Republicans are not actually conservative and Democrats aren’t really all that progressive. Maybe the folks at the grass roots level actually believe the propaganda, but the party leadership who stand for elections are all one group of folks. They are all very much about the government intruding into your personal life and taking everything you own. Both parties insist that we all lie down naked and await them to rape us at their convenience.
There is one real difference for us in our virtual parish, though. When the Republicans win, we are more likely to face persecution. These are the folks who demand that you worship the flag, the military and law enforcement. This is the group that promotes a civil orthodoxy and Jesus robed in the stars-n-stripes. They don’t even bother to give lip service to the idea of diversity; you will conform or you will suffer.
It appears they are winning in the elections, so brace yourself. If you appreciate any part of my teaching, you should understand that these are the folks who will come after us. You should expect partisan “astro-turfing” (fake grassroots) in the comments to my posts, bristling with more attacks. For the most part, I’m going to let them through because it’s a grand opportunity to show how they are promoting evil. It’s possible they might be too busy, but it has shown a strong correlation in the past. Look for dirty tricks that attempt to divide us, to drive a wedge between us.
Meanwhile, I stand by my prophetic message that this online parish is going to become stronger. Perhaps not much bigger, though we are approaching 500 subscribers. Rather, I believe some of you regular readers will hear the call to become more involved in the mission. Not my mission, but the common mission of presenting the truth our world opposes.
