Re: Prayer Request: Endless Allergies — Thank you all for your prayers. The Lord has heard.
It’s not a healing miracle as you might think of it, but the Lord has revealed what it will take to avoid so much suffering. To the best of my understanding, this mobile home has a permanent source of mold in the insulation. When the weather is cold, naturally it’s not as prominent. Cooler temperatures have come, and we are in the path of that massive frosty storm coming across CONUS. It should hit Oklahoma sometime Tuesday. That will slow down the problem significantly for the rest of the winter.
Meanwhile, I’m following the advice of Sister Wildcucumber; I’ve added a few supplements that empower my system to resist better. I’m also changing a few of my routines and habits to accommodate the necessity to reduce my exposure. Mostly it means spending time away from the house. Indeed, this little hilltop trailer park has a big mold problem, so I leave the whole area when I can. Given our vehicle problem, that means a lot of cycling and schlepping the laptop around. It’s an adventure! (And the transportation issue is close to resolution, too.)
For the time being, we are praying for guidance on a room air purifier. If one of you readers knows of a good one, let me know. I hope to avoid the models that require frequent and expensive filter changes. I don’t mind cleaning one regularly, but I am not fond of the marketing model used by most every inkjet printer manufacturer in the world — selling the device at a loss and charging a fortune for the proprietary refills. It doesn’t have to be a total removal of all particulates, only a reduction in the mold spore count. There seems to be a threshold below which I am relatively comfortable.
There are more remedies coming in the mail already and I’ll be using those, as well. The proper ethic is asking God what He intends to do with this problem, not demanding a particularly easy solution for myself.
Again, I am grateful for all your prayers and support. God bless you all.
Glad you are doing better! I had some mold in my home because of a huge tree that keeps my house in the shade. I used vinegar to clean it, then bought a wood stove to bring the humidity down and heat my home. Luckily the mold was not too bad. I know if it were worse I would still be looking for inexpensive solutions.
Thanks, Travis. We have been cleaning visible mold inside and out, but I know from experience that cold weather makes it much easier for me to breathe.
