Welcome to Loop A. Okay, I still have to mow about 100 yards of tall grass to make it 100%, but as of this afternoon, I can now run a full 2-mile loop without going anywhere near the forbidden zone where the water treatment lagoon rests.
Today I went out a couple of times to finish the 500 yard stretch up the draw. It was mostly a matter of leg slapping hard saplings, berry thorn vines, and big bunches of tall grass. These were in varying mixtures, and it was nothing like carving through deep woods. Still, it was work simply because I wanted to finish the initial loop.
The one flaw in this paradise is deer tick season is in full swing. Wearing a sprayed on insect repellent works okay for me, but my parents can’t take their dogs out there much. Both of them have been treated for fleas and ticks, but these suckers are tough. The don’t appear to like humans that much, thank God. However, the poor little pups bring these nasties home and share them anyway.
As long as I am running, they aren’t likely to get on me anyway. Aside from the one stretch of grass, the trail is already done for awhile.
