Libertarian Hell

(Note: I’m under the weather with a fever right now, so writing is kind of tough.)
Libertarian philosophy completely ignores the Fall.
I’m all for letting people do what they want, so long as it hurts no one but themselves. I’m even willing to narrow down the definition of “hurting others” to exclude silly Postmodern notions of harm. We live and let live to the degree possible, but it’s not nearly so possible as many presume.
The Bible says even the intellect is fallen, something neither Catholics nor most Protestants are willing to accept. Yes, some give lip service to the notion, but then turn and show their entire social and political calculation assumes otherwise.
Further, the notion of unrestrained libertarian economic policy is just as dangerous as fascism. Any system in which wealth and influence aggregate in some hands and not in others, without fail the psychopaths will rise to the top. That includes any economic system. Inculcating true libertarian enlightenment from end to end in the cultural mythology will not help.
The only proper biblical protection for any unfortunate person is extended family. No one else will ever defend you so freely, and the mission of protection simply cannot be farmed out. This is outright evil, poking God in the eye. There must be regulation of commerce, but it needs to come from the household, clan, tribe, etc. It has to come from shared DNA or shared covenant (not at all the same as a contract). It has to involve persons and personal responsibility. Current Western legal systems uniformly fail in this regard: If a company does wrong, the actual decision makers in the company must suffer directly a just penalty. Same for any government official; it is in the Bible simply impossible to claim you acted consistently with your role, and are therefore immune. God’s Laws remove all personal immunity. Period.
If modern Western libertarians got their way, it would be pure Hell on Earth, just a different flavor than what we now have.
