What follows is not prophecy; it’s simply intuition.
We’ve known for a few weeks the US is now totally unhappy with the rebels in Syria. It appears they’ve been losing pretty badly, so we had some Stinger missiles sort of disappear from one place and somehow wind up in the hands of the Syrian rebels. But it won’t do them much good because the rebels are hopelessly incompetent. So a lot of folks were half expecting some time ago the US and some allies would start enforcing some kind of no-fly zone over Syria. This would be prelude to an invasion, and I can’t guess the specifics, and I have no idea when it might start.
My intuition says Assad’s government will fall. I sense that will make Syria rather like Iraq and Lebanon. My intuition also suggests this will somehow be the final straw, that something about this will break the bank for us, so to speak. Whether or not it prevents any further idiocy is doubtful, so I suggest it will set us up for a disaster when we start something somewhere else.
I’m hoping I’m wrong, of course. These are not nice thoughts. Still, I’m praying for the hapless citizens of Syria. I’ve already been praying for Americans, but I have already declared us all too deserving of bad news. By the way, I don’t think the US will simply blow up. Might break up into smaller entities, but I rather doubt that any time soon. My intuition suggests we’ll go into a long decline worse than what happened for the UK at her worst. I doubt there will be any major military attack here, not even by outside terrorists. We will, of course, suffer false flag attacks from government sponsored terrorists, but that’s hardly news. Meanwhile, the political spectacles will continue in the media here, and it will all mean just about nothing.
Enjoy your week.
