No Conspiracy

If we all agree in our hearts we must resist evil, it matters not how we go about it individually.
Leaderless Resistance is an old idea, but it doesn’t go far enough. That is, it still allows too much traceable cooperation. It was originally envisioned as a way to take physical action in resistance to some government or other controlling institution. They are expecting that. Even if you take full advantage of things like the flashmob effect, you still run the risk of serious threat to the resistance members, needless bloodshed. Demonstrations, riots, guerrilla warfare — all of it is nearly pointless unless you are very highly organized and normally invisible to the system you are fighting. Not only is this becoming increasingly difficult, it’s just about pointless.
These days, the only way to literally break down the system is literally kill the people running it. Those people are psychopaths; there is no moral suasion possible. You can’t simply inconvenience them until they give you a bone and you certainly can’t change their minds. Killing them runs the risk of doing entirely too much evil yourself.
There is one exception: Dissolve the controls. Stop and think about that for a moment. You and I know the sheeple will always be the last to bolt from the disaster. We cannot count on them for anything, yet God holds us accountable for their care. He has a use for them and we are obliged to honor that, even as we hardly understand more than a tiny little slice of it. If that. So we have to do things His way or He will not bless it. We dissolve their controls by sapping the moral power of their evil ways.
It’s not a conspiracy if each of us goes about things according to His divine guidance. You do what you do best in His service and I’ll do the same. All we have to do, in the process, is each realize we are using His powers to bring His glory and enlightenment into this Shadow World. Sometimes it means taking very literal physical action, but with all of us working according to His divine direction, it cannot fail His purpose. His purpose often includes destroying the evil works of humanity, a judgment against their sins. Not in a fashion comfortable to our human reasoning, but you can’t rush His work.
Allow me to make a suggestion: His primary mission among men can be viewed as revealing His Justice. Not something written in human language, I’m talking about that indefinable moral purpose which is woven into His entire Creation. You must have some kind of Net access or you wouldn’t be reading this, no? So take advantage of this means to communicate His glory and His Justice. You read stuff you can surely understand in light of His glory; share it. On your own blog or social media account somewhere, just share stuff you think reflects His viewpoint. Make some original comments about something you discover. It won’t matter if it’s some political article — anything at all. Write out the burdens of your heart regardless of your interests. Show His glory in whatever tickles your fancy.
In the process, you cannot help but strike against His enemies. It may be entirely metaphorical, but that’s fine. Symbolism is the language of Heaven on earth in the first place. Just revel in His glory as best you know it. Somebody somewhere will be touched by it; guaranteed. That’s how God works. And as more and more people are touched by His glory, more people will turn to His ways. He said He’d be willing to work with a tiny slice, a slender minority, and perform mighty miracles against evil. The vast weight of His mighty hand working through angels cannot be measured, but where a few people are walking in His truth, the demons are crushed.
We need no conspiracy to destroy evil governments. God will do it and He’s quite willing to let us come along for the ride. Hop on board!

I agree with you. I like the idea of that paradigm shift from persuasion to simply making good sense to drive a change in culture. We shouldn’t have to be persuaded to see the truth, far better that we are clear-headed enough to recognise its veracity in the first instance. The only obstacle is ego.

  2. Ed Hurst says:

Precisely, Deryck. The truth makes its own path. I’m sure none of us can calculate the critical mass, but I sense it’s not that hard to reach if just a few more people see beyond their egos.

But doesn’t Jesus dispute your first sentence?
“But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” (Matt 5:39)
As for your last sentence.. were there ever any “good” governments? From the very first one recorded–established by Nimrod, to every last state in existence today, aren’t they all inherently counterfeits for the Kingdom of God, and in open rebellion against the Lord and his solely legitimate rule over man? And isn’t the Government of the Christ going to crush all of them once and forever more? (Isaiah 2:2; Jeremiah 51:24-26; Daniel chaps 2,9,11; Micah 4:1; Luke 13:18-19; Rev 6:15; ch.17)
What have Christ’s followers got to do with it, except to “inherit the earth” once it’s all over.

Michael, I hope you aren’t one who quibbles over precise wording and misses the deeper meaning. We resist evil in the sense we don’t let it into our lives voluntarily; we must resist the Devil. The context of your quotation is the Beatitudes, where Jesus says don’t retaliate against human evil. The point is more clearly made in Ephesians 6, where Paul says we aren’t here to fight human tools of Satan, but Satan himself. In the Hebrew intellectual culture, context is everything.
Regarding governments, there have been some that were decent, some worthy of praise for how close they adhered to whatever Law Covenant applied (Moses for Israel, Noah for everyone else). None today seem to obey Noah, and Modern Israel hatefully rejects Moses. Yes, Christ will crush them all when He makes a New Heaven and a New Earth. What we do now is prophetically address the issue because that’s part of our Christian witness.
      Thanks for commenting, Michael.

I’m not one who quibbles. I understand the meaning of Christ’s words in the context of Matt 5 the same way as you do. Guess I didn’t find your post to be very clear (you tend to be cryptic). What then should we do about the evil co-conspirators of Satan–those that have their boot on our necks?
I suppose all human governments have had some elements that are worthy of praise–maybe those of Moses and Noah more than others–but not by much. Moses led God’s people out of Egypt (the world) so God could commune with them personally. But they demanded a priest (like the nations). Moses gave them Aaron who made them an idol. All of these children (save 2) left their “carcasses in the desert” and did not inherit the Lord’s promises because of their rebellion. Later, their descendents demanded a king (like the nations). Again the Lord declared they had rejected him. And he cursed them with a king (2 Samuel 8). We know well of the long rise and fall of the nation of Israel that followed. But the Lord all along had a “Priest-King” in mind to lead them to Him. As he does for all of his wayward children. When He came, they rejected Him too. And slew him. As did all of his wayward children, you and me included.
‘Have it your way’, God said.
Question is, I suppose: how then should we live under the rule of Satan’s kingdoms? Do you suggest we actively persuade the masses of the Matrix they are unwittingly in, or shall we just stand as witnesses against them as they violently drag our loved ones into the vortex. Because I think the former is an act of futility, and the latter is a horror I don’t know how long many of us can bear. Certainly is a pickle.

I’m grateful for a sincere and fruitful discussion, Michael.
Yes, the people of Israel failed, as all people do. I suppose there is a level at which we can say God proposed the Covenant of Moses with Israel in part to prove that very point. A Law Covenant cannot produce what man needs most. It could, in theory, provide as much as any human can have if they embrace it and obey it scrupulously. It was too easy to focus on the words and stipulations and forget the higher meaning.
The Laws were revealed in the Covenants of Noah and of Moses. I assert Moses is a particular example of Noah, a specific case. Moses is more nit-picky because it fits a peculiar instance of human existence: that people, that place, that time. Moses was closed at the Cross, but the record of the Law of Moses still teaches us much if we abstract the underlying purpose. It helps to understand what God expects of human behavior on this fallen plane of existence. The best you can hope for in this life comes from embracing the purposes of the various stipulations in the Laws.
Embracing the meaning of the Law as Jesus taught it, as He explain what the Law was supposed to do, is also how we serve the one divine purpose left for us as Christians. The only reason we don’t die physically as soon as we are born spiritually is because He intends to use us to show His glory, to offer us as a living love letter to those who aren’t yet spiritually awakened. I doubt you’ll argue with that, and could probably say that yourself.
How do we live under Satan’s rule on this earth? He is also restricted by the Laws of God, in a certain sense. If you and I obey God’s Laws with a pure spiritual conscience, Satan has precious little leverage to mess with us. He does hold the human governments, but God uses our obedience to Him as a witness against human sin. I take the line there is nothing I can do to persuade anyone of anything. God alone does that work; it’s always 100% miracle. He uses my obedience and failures in ways I’ll never understand completely, but I know He does because He says so.
In this particular post, I focus on the idea that simply doing what we are called to do is sufficient witness. We don’t have to agree in the particulars; God still uses us that way. Only humans demand a particular kind of unity and conformance. I don’t go around getting in people’s faces and trying to manipulate their thinking to agree with my particular viewpoint about God. The spiritual battlefield is not the minds of other people, but my own soul. It’s all I can do just to want righteousness even when I can’t perform. If there is something God has placed in my hands as my responsibility, it may well be my job to fight off an evil human. For example, I won’t let any government official harm my grandchildren without making whatever effort I can to fight back. Whether I lose the fight isn’t the issue, because effectiveness is entirely a matter for God to rule.
However, there is a great deal of my world which is not in my hands. The trick here is to decide, in the face of evil government, what God wants from me, leaving Him full authority to urge me to use physical violence or to simply stand by in sorrow and watch. I’ve experienced both at times. Yes, we are in a pickle. We train our minds to learn when the Spirit demands we act, how much we act, and when we do not.
