Collision Course

The system cannot be fixed.

Apparently there is a need to repeat this message, because I see too often folks who should know better expressing powerful emotional involvement in something that warrants no energy at all. Sure, the answers are obvious and you want to believe that people with a different answer are just being intentionally stupid. Except that your solution may not be any better. If you truly understand God’s solution to the problems of this world, you also understand that the world will not listen.

Our Lord says we can be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. It’s not hard to consult His revelation and see that the answer is way outside the boundaries. That is, you and I know that God’s answer is so utterly alien to the mainstream that they would never hear it. And if they did hear, it would be taken as a threat. Whatever it is you see wrong in your world, the answer is a danger to every vested interest at work around us. We see this so clearly and our hearts tell us it’s not our job to enforce anything.

You cannot possibly dream up anything better than the system of life God designed. Whatever the limitations you see in His design, they are inherent in the Curse of the Fall. Breaking the Curse means leaving this world and going to be with Christ. We know that the system God revealed is the optimum for this world. His Laws are healing for the broken reality.

Sometimes, between where we are and the radical solution God proposed, we can see way-points on the path that would make things better. But those, too, are a bitter pill to swallow for the vested interests in this world. So just moving in the right direction is impossible for more than just a precious few who see the divine illumination and have His power to accept what is impossible for mere men.

So we stand in this really difficult place in our crazy world. Sure, we know the answer is none of the things promoted by all the voices around us. We know that God’s answer would be taken as a joke in poor taste, at best. We are under intense pressure to declare allegiance to some other answer, something from the poisoned smörgåsbord of idiocy promoted on the Internet, as well as other forms of communication.

We shall be likely meet some hostility for our insufficient enthusiasm about choices others make for us. We’ll be castigated at the least over our irreverence for the sacred orthodoxies that men proclaim.

The Apostle John was, so far as we know, the Last Apostle to live on this earth. We also know his body was scarcely cold in the grave when much of what he warned about in his Apocalypse began coming true. The mystical viewpoint was smothered; the Ancient Hebraic outlook was buried under Judaizers who were stung by the revival of something they thought they had killed on the Cross. The true understanding of the Law of Moses had to be wiped from the minds of men, especially those who worshiped Christ.

So we would have to go back at least to the time of John just to understand how things are supposed to work, never mind see it in action. It was that long ago that humanity took a wrong turn and never looked back. It’s that far back in time, that far away in geography and even farther back in human thought, to find the truth. Do you imagine we could so easily call back from the precipice of human conflict those around us when the path is so very, very long? And yet, this we do with our very lives.

Let me assure you that if you don’t already embrace that ancient truth, what you just read sounds like confused gibberish. Nicodemus didn’t have an easy time understanding Jesus, either. A few individuals here and there will, from time to time, come to the recognition of the truth, and voluntarily seek to implement God’s Laws in their lives. For the rest, all we can do is stand back and watch, and pray that we aren’t drawn into it by deception.

Let it crash without you.
