Photolog: Old Houses Mostly

Today I took the Casino Loop and focused on old houses and related scenery. Click on any image for a larger view.

1200SArenaRdMcLoud I rode out on SE 44th and the washout patches are now covered in asphalt. It’s the dump-n-rake stuff, not properly laid with machinery, but better than craters. You would pass this house (left) on the way down to the park on the north shore of Wes Watkins Reservoir.

NDeerCrkWatkinsDamComing around the end of Watkins Lake, we have this shot (right) back upstream of North Deer Creek, which is the water course captured in the lake, so there’s the simple dirt dam in the background.

32500W45thShawneeThis old place (left) stands just west of the road the runs in front of the Grand Casino, and not far from the Dale Cemetery.

29909WMemorialRdMcLoud After crossing over into McLoud territory, this old store (right) stands at the corner of SE 89th and Fish Market Road. Behind it is a packed salvage yard, and whomever it is takes your money appears to reside in a motor home visible back behind the tree to the right there.

29715WMemorialRdMcLoudJust a little ways down from the store is this glorious old country house (left). Too bad the turret is hidden behind the tree. This thing has recently been refurbished and is up for sale.

20427SE89thNewallaThis one (right) stands atop the hill and just across the street from the entrance to Sleepy Hollow development in Newalla. Another couple of years and this thing will be invisible from the road.

SE89thnPeeblyRdNewallaFinally we have this gratuitous hill-n-valley shot (left) across from the New Life Baptist Church of Newalla. This is a westward view across Peebly Road, just a bit north from SE 89th. Just barely visible on the right side is some kind of construction site that stretches quite a ways out of view. They have a huge level spot with some drainage built into it. I’m waiting to see what it turns out to be.

Nice cool start this morning, so I may need to adjust my start times in the future as we head into the fall weather.
