Well, I had to put Windows 2000 on one of my machines. As is always the reason, there are a few things I have to run which only work properly under the Windows environment. Since I know how to make it work the way I like (read: less hassles than XP or later), and have a good copy for my use, I run Win2K as the least of evils.
Actually, it’s not all the awful, but it’s not Linux or Unix, and can’t be made to work like it. I’ll tolerate it as long as I need those old DOS programs to run properly. I’m getting grief from DOSEmu, and there’s no good solution for it. As a bonus, a handful of hardware issues disappear under Windows, since everybody makes a Windows driver for their stuff.
Still… yuck.
