You Never Know

When it comes to survival skills and preparedness, there are some things you can never anticipate. Sure, you probably already know it’s getting where police are worse than the crooks. But unless you have access to something like an M2, there’s not much you can do to prevent SWAT raids. They can target you for absolutely no justification at all, and lie about it, and nothing will happen to them. Yet in those areas where you are allowed to have a weapon for home defense, you are supposed to somehow know the difference between home invasion and a no-knock raid, because you aren’t permitted to defend yourself in the latter. Do you purchase body armor and sleep in it?

It’s a lot like our tornadoes here in Oklahoma. Maybe you caught a brief notice in the news about the six-pack we had ripping up central Oklahoma this past Monday, or the Tulsa area today. And as I type this, storms are popping up along a line which runs right through these parts again. While tornadoes aren’t so likely this time, the storms are rolling up the line itself, which line won’t be moving too much, so we’ll have lots of noise to keep us company all night. It’s rarely this cool so late in the spring, but we’ve hit overnight lows in the 50º F range quite frequently. How do you prepare for a sudden plunge in temperatures across the entire Northern Hemisphere?

And what can the folks down on the Gulf Coast do as those vast slicks drift ashore? At one point, King David was warned his sins would result in one of three things. David realized no matter how bad nature could be, it was always a better deal than falling into the hands of evil people. Fine. SWAT raids are highly unlikely, but God’s wrath in the form of natural disasters are a sure thing. Yet the last flu vaccine disaster was just a test run, and economic collapse has already started in Europe and in the US. The FDA says you have no right to decide for yourself what you will consume, and they plan to vigorously enforce their wishes — as dictated by Big Pharma and Big Food. And on and on.

Unlike David, we aren’t allowed to pick one of three. It’s all coming down on us at the same time. My point? You can’t prepare for it on worldly terms. You can’t defend against tornadoes and blizzards. You won’t be allowed to grow your own food soon, and you won’t be permitted buy what isn’t poisoned for the sake of profit. Meanwhile, catastrophic pollution — real poisons, not natural components of the atmosphere — is everywhere. Sometimes I wonder if God’s wrath will be averted simply because we’ll beat Him to it.

My good friend died recently, and shortly before, we both agreed this was a good time to expire. You get to see it coming, but don’t have to experience it full force. I’ll be here until God takes me home, too. Meanwhile, I’ve already escaped in my heart. I’m committed to living on a different plane, so all the stuff coming is just background noise. That’s the only real preparation.
