Popular Already: March 2012

An awful lot of stuff is being promised for next month.
Not even in sight yet, and already March is very popular with an awful lot of folks. You got Half-Past Human promising foreboding events that month. There’s the promise Greece will default after close of business on the 23rd. Lots of folks insist Israel will hit somebody — probably Iran — in March. Never mind all the usual alternative fear-mongering sites yakking about stuff happening always in the next month or two.
The FBI is waving a scary story about shutting off the bogus servers to fool a particular virus (DNS Changer Trojan) folks should already have removed from their systems. They say on the 8th they have to take those servers offline, and that means the folks and businesses which haven’t cleaned off this mess will have no access to DNS. Apparently this critter hijacks the whole DNS process for affected computers. How many? They estimate 4 million. How come these folks weren’t simply told to fix their stuff? Instead, the FBI set up some bogus servers and snookered this trojan into getting real DNS information and not disrupting things. Since it doesn’t do anything else, apparently, lots of people have no idea.
Anyway, lots of folks are talking about March like it’s the greatest thing, and it’s not even here yet.
