Moving Update 2

The mortgage pay-off was sent today via overnight post. Next, we wait for a lien release to come back so I can put the mobile home in my son’s name. Then I’ll have to pay up the property taxes to date to get that also in his name.

As of this writing, we don’t yet know if the apartment complex has accepted our application, but I submitted an up-front payment to hold our choice of apartment. I’ll be surprised if they turn us away.

Who would believe that in this day and age a grocery store would be hostile to cyclists? The apartment is next door to Crest Foods #1 (the “old store”). You would think that having my extended family involved in that place for the past five decades I would remember, but the management is easily the biggest bunch of buttheads in the whole state. The founder is long dead, but during his life he held the title of Number One Asshole for this state. At any rate, I didn’t give it much thought until some dweeb staffer told me I had to park my bike out on the sidewalk next to the street, at least 50 meters from the building. I now vaguely remember them telling me I couldn’t park my motorcycle in any car parking slot, either. If I parked out on the edge of their lot out of view, they didn’t say anything, but it always rankled. I told the dweeb I would pick another store and rode off.

Today I rode an extra mile out of my way because there is plenty of competition with normal bike racks next to the building. I also sent the management company an email informing them of my boycott and why.

My wife spoke to the trailer park management and got lots of apologies for failing to offer any resemblance of customer service. At any rate, our departure will be wholly uncomplicated. Once my son gets the title in his name and takes it down to the office, our names will be off the lease and his gets bumped up to the top.

We pray they can make a go of it this time, because they’ve had trouble in the past.

Thanks for all your prayers and support.
