I’ve decided I really must have one good console-only system. Since the old Pavilion 542x is hardly much good for GUI stuff, that was where it went. I still have CentOS 5 on the Inspiron for times when I have to have a GUI.
Not much has changed since the first foray there. This time there was a bigger fight for the sound. On this machine, I had to add blacklist snd-pcsp to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf to prevent it loading before the kernel found the ICH4 sound chips on the mobo.
Other than that, I’m enjoying serving once again with the Brotherhood of the Commandline.
